A Book Affair at MATIC

The Materials Innovation Centre (MATIC) acquired new resources through DOST’s De-Tech (Design and Technology) Fusion Level Up project. MATIC is a joint collaboration of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) with the Department of Science and Technology Region 7 (DOST 7).

The new collection of hard-to-find volumes, print-only versions, and first edition books on the latest technology, materials, designs and business models will be opened to Cebu’s creative community from November 28 until March 2017.

The newly purchased books were launched with Book Affair @ MATIC last November 24 with the DOST Assistant Regional Director Engr. Jess Zamora, Jr  and  Creative Director of Bo’s Coffee Joanna Michelle Lim as speakers.  The event also featured the new material swatches and furniture from Cebu Interlace Weavers Corp., HoliCOW, Kenneth Cobonpue, Mastercraft Philippines Inc., and Pacific Traders & Manufacturing Corp.

Created under the vision of ECCP, Materials R+D Program was launched in 2008 to promote creativity and competitiveness in the design industries.  MATIC is part of the direction of creating a hub where creative, new media, start-up and business industries can get innovative, glocal and relevant points of inspiration. Materials, prototypes and product applications are made available for ECCP’s  supported sectors, partners and member companies. Students doing research are also welcome to incubate their ideas using MATIC resources.

MATIC is managed by ECCP, supported by DOST7 and DTI7, in collaboration with CFIF, Cebu GTH Foundation and Cebu FAME. For visits to the Materials Innovation Centre, you may call ECCP Cebu office at (+63 32) 253.3387 or fax (+63 32)412.1194.
